Back in February,Dear Utol (2025): Pa-Yummy si Ma'am Episode 37 a receipt from Chef Mark Simmons' Brooklyn restaurant Kiwiana drew attention thanks to a note printed just beneath the total: "Immigrants make America great (they also cooked your food and served you today)."
Now a Santa Fe restaurant is following suit. Per local news affiliate KRQE, every receipt printed at Plaza Cafe Southside features the same pro-immigrant message Simmons put on his.

While the U.S. president wants to build a wall along the Mexican border and has instituted a temporary ban on refugees, the note's aim is to remind customers of the roles immigrants play in their lives.
"I think it opens people’s eyes, because they don’t think about that," she told KRQE.
And though she expected at least a few complaints, the note's seen nothing but support from customers.
In February, Kiwiana's Simmons told Mashable that the note is a"a reminder to ourselves and to our customers that immigrants are relatively the backbone of the hospitality industry, and they often are the people who cook for you ... all around America."
