Apple kinda sorta just spoiled its own big event by letting slip some of the biggest updates coming to the new iPhone and Christmas Night (2024) Hindi Short FilmApple Watch.
We've already detailed some of the possible new emoji goodies, Apple Watch updates, and iPhone naming updates, but there's also a few other features revealed in the iOS 11 firmware leak.

But that's the least of the hidden treasures in this batch. Discovered by 9to5Mac, the leak indicates that the iPhone will include a new Portrait Lighting mode for producing DSLR-style images. The enhancement would presumably build on the iPhone's already impressive Portrait mode, which simulates a shallower depth of field effect commonly available on high-end DSLR cameras.
The leak also points to the presence of a True Tone Display for the OLED version of the new iPhone (possibly called iPhone X), and new video recording resolution and capture speeds, including 4K at 60 frames per second (a feature that was rumored earlier this month), up from 4K at 30 frames per second in the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.

In addition to the new naming convention for the 10th anniversary iPhone X, the report also discovered what appears to be the official brand name for the widely rumored face-based security feature: "Face ID" (possibly replacing Touch ID as a means to unlock the iPhone).
Also included in the leak roundup are instructions found for enabling SOS mode (simultaneous pressing of side-mounted buttons), and a possible minor update to AirPods.
This huge information dump either means that there could be little left to learn at the Apple event next week, or Apple has so much to unveil that these leaks only scratch the surface. We'll know for sure on Tuesday, when you can come back here for live coverage of the event.
