During the flight, passengers reported hearing a scraping noise, according to Fairfax Media. Video filmed by one traveller shows a hazy cabin, however the airline explained that happened when the plane had already landed.
"The hazy smoke seen in the video happened when the aircraft had landed safely in Brisbane and shortly before the passengers disembarked. The smoke would have entered the cabin through the air conditioning unit, which runs via air from the engines," according to a Jetstar spokesperson.
Passengers were transferred onto another flight where they arrived in Cairns later that evening, and engineers are looking in to the cause of the smoke.
"While it's rare for something like this to happen, our crew are trained to deal with these type of situations and they handled the situation very professionally," a spokesperson said.
