Let the witch hunt begin.
The White Nude Taken Downupcoming reboot of the classic ABC sitcom Sabrina the Teenage Witch is going dark as hell. In the first poster for The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, starring Mad Men's Kiernan Shipka, makes it clear that this isn't your mama's teen witch. Cause this time around, Sabrina's not afraid to let her Lucifer flag fly.
SEE ALSO: Meet the ‘basic witches’ who are moving witchcraft into the mainstreamIt appears that instead of dotting the 'i' in her name with a heart or some such nonsense, this Sabrina is straight up repping a pentagram. We could not be more down for this transformation. Like, yas girl! Summon all that lady power with a strong red lip!
Netflix describes the reboot as a reimagining of the more family-friendly sitcom witch we knew from childhood. It's a "dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft," with tonal aspirations toward Rosemary's Babyand The Exorcist.
We here at Mashable are firm supporters of the recent witchening of pop culture. Last year saw the rise of the Basic Witch, but this year is all about leveling up to full on blood sacrifice.
Created by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the man behind the gritty Archiereboot Riverdale, the show will revolve around "Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature — half-witch, half-mortal — while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit."
Consider us already part of the coven, Sabrina.
UPDATE: July 10, 2018, 10:16 p.m. PDT The original "Sabrina Teenage Witch" network was corrected from Nickelodeon to ABC
