The World Of Single Jayenew Prince Philip has arrived.
Paul Bettany is "being lined up" to play the famously gaffe-prone royal in Netflix's The Crown, Variety reported on Saturday.
SEE ALSO: This Instagram post contains a major clue about the next series of 'The Crown'He would replace Matt Smith, who portrayed a younger version of Philip in the show's first two seasons.
Bettany would join Olivia Colman and Helena Bonham Carter -- set to play Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Margaret, respectively -- in the cast. At least a portion of Season 3 is set in the 1970s, and will include, among other things, the breakup of Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon. (It doesn't count as a spoiler if it already happened IRL, right?)
Anyway, Paul Bettany looks kind of similar to 1970s Prince Philip, so he's got that going for him, which is nice.
