There's something about storing immense amounts of data on fashion lace and eroticisma tiny gadget that makes the tech geek's imagination run wild. A decade ago, 30 terabytes was a superfluous amount of storage, reserved for professional use. Not anymore. Soon, you'll be able to buy a single 2.5-inch SSD and store roughly 5,700 HD movies on it.
This is thanks to Samsung, which announced on Monday it will start mass producing the largest capacity SCSI SSD.

"With our launch of the 30.72TB SSD, we are once again shattering the enterprise storage capacity barrier, and in the process, opening up new horizons for ultra-high capacity storage systems worldwide," said Jaesoo Han, executive VP of Memory Sales & Marketing Team at Samsung, and I applaud him for trying to make the SSD market exciting with words like "shattering" and "new horizons".
The only question now is what's cooler: Having 30.72 terabytes in your hand, or having 512GB on the tip of your finger in the form of Samsung's new microSD card?
There's no word on exact launch date or price, but we reckon it won't be particularly cheap. Samsung said it has started manufacturing "initial quantities" of the 30.72TB variant in January, but will expand the lineup with smaller capacity variants, from 800GB to 15.36TB, so there will be plenty of choices for every pocket.
