The The Pursuit of Lust 4 (2024)Halloween cake scene just got a whole lot spookier.
With October usually comes increased enthusiasm for orange cocktails and squid ink pasta, and this year is no exception. But this time, Halloween's culinary hues are coming with a side of cobwebs -- messy marshmallow cobwebs.

According to Country Living, this trend first popped up on The Cake Blogin 2012. It's surprisingly easy to pull off -- just cover any cake in a layer of fondant, then wrap hot, stringy marshmallow around it in web patterns with your hands. (Be careful with hot 'mallow, of course.)
You can also make a little black spider out of fondant for a seasonal touch.

Though it's geared toward Halloween festivities, the cobweb cake is yet another example of the ethereal, more abstract cakes that have dominated the baking scene recently (think: raindrop cakes, magic cakes).
Best of all, you don't need to be a professional artist oran actual spider to achieve the haphazard beauty of the cobweb cake. Just wrap in any pattern you please, and chances are, it'll look great.
