Let's be disegni volgari eroticehonest: As much as parents fawn over them, most childhood drawings aren't good enough to be preserved, let alone re-imagined. Reddit user Jenny-Jinya is far more talented than most of us. The freelance artist recently recreated Pokémon fan art from her childhood and posted it to r/gaming.
The transformation and the similarities between the two drawings are too good to ignore.
Jenny-Jinya was "7 or 8" when she drew the initial drawing, the artist told Mashable over DM.
"As any kid in that era I was obsessed [with Pokémon]," Jenny-Jinya says. "I just found [my childhood fan art] and was so amused about my art style back then. I thought the original idea is so adorable, maybe I can recreate it in my current style ... Recreating old drawings from my childhood always helped me to overcome my artblock. I can only recommend if artists struggle [that they do] the same."
Fans on the gaming subreddit were impressed.
Jenny-Jinya should consider posting more of her recreations to my favorite new subreddit, r/childhoodartredrawn.
Can't wait to submit my kindergarten masterpiece, "Stick figures hanging out under a sun with sunglasses."
