"David died surrounded by those he loved, with joy in his heart and free from the pain that had gripped him for so long. He had been admitted to a Florida hospital several days earlier for organ failure.

Cassidy rose to fame in 1970 on The Partridge Family, which pushed "I Think I Love You" to the top of the charts with the teen heartthrob on vocals.

On Nov. 18, NBC News reported that Cassidy had been hospitalized and needed a liver transplant. Earlier this year, the singer revealed his recent battle with dementia. He talked openly about it with fans in New York during the last tour of his career.
