One way to solve the battery life issues plaguing smartphone users ( (so,Watch Sexy Assassins (2012) basically, everyone) these days is to go bigger. China's Gionee has done exactly that: its new luxury phone boasts a pretty outlandish 7,000mAh battery paired with some really good specs.
The Gionee M2017 is a 5.7-inch smartphone in a metal and leather case that, while fatter than your regular phablet, still manages to look quite elegant despite that enormous battery.

For some reason, the chipset that powers all this is the quite midrange Snapdragon 653, which makes the entire package a lot less desirable, if still perfectly capable.
According to Gionee, the phone should last for a few days of regular use or 26 hours of non-stop video, which is exactly what you need for that around-the-world plane trip you've been planning.
The Gionee M2017 is not the first phone with a huge battery. The Blu Energy XL and the Acer Liquid Zest Plus have 5,000mAh cells, while the Oukitel K10000 has an even bigger, 10,000mAh battery. It is, however, currently the most powerful smartphone with such a huge cell, mid-range processor aside.
The price in China, where the phone will launch on Jan. 6, starts at RMB 6,999 ($1,007).
